All About Plastic Composite Decking

Wood is an excellent choice for outdoor structures and fittings. It blends well into the garden, adds beauty to outside areas, and can be recycled if it is properly sourced.

You can get the #1 WPC (wood plastic composite) decking services in Singapore. The plastic composite decking is a green option to wooden decks and is ideal for green remodeling. However, it has been controversial.

In the 1990s, wood-plastic composite (WPC), decks were introduced to the market. These decks are made up of wood particles mixed with thermoplastic resins. PVC is the most well-known of all thermoplastic materials.

There have been many claims about WPC decking's eco-friendliness and suitability for green buildings. It is not clear if these claims are true or merely 'greenwashing".

Is artificial wood that is made from toxic chemicals and high-tech manufacturing methods really green? WPC can make large amounts of recycled plastic, up to 80%. This is the main claim to green status.

Wood components are made from waste materials from the wood industry. WPC decking is not required to be painted, treated with toxic pesticides, or treated with preservatives, as it doesn't have to be treated like wood. WPC decks are also more durable and won't require replacement as often.

WPC decks have a long history of problems with their green status. Due to the inclusion of cellulose in WPC decks, some have failed to live up to the durability claims and have weakened and faded.

Chemical preservatives can be used to treat cellulose. Here is the problem. Manufacturers may use mostly recycled plastics, with little or no cellulose. They may be able to live up to their claims. Others do not.
